What are the benefits/advantages of using Medpod/MediLink vs me going to the doctor in person? 

Medpod equipment allows a provider to hear better, see better and ultimately diagnose better. At Medilink we believe in knowing the patient better than any doctor that has come before us. We subscribe to Medpod’s “Patient Baseline” Wellcheck program which allows us to complete a comprehensive first patient exam and store all of the patient’s vitals as well as sound, image and video recordings of the patient’s heart, lungs, ear, throat, skin, eyes and a number of the social determinants of health. When the patient is not feeling well our providers can examine the patient against the baseline and assess the deviation from the patient’s normal state. This approach will allow Medilink to provide the best personalized and preventive care in the nation, right here in Harlem.

I am bed ridden, how can this help me with my care needs? 

Medilink can dispatch one of our Care Facilitators and a Medpod MobileDoc or Medpac unit right to your bedside. These state of the art portable medical carts enable our remote providers to exam you as well or even better than is possible in a traditional face to face medical exam. The Medpod technology enables us to offer both primary care and specialty care such as Cardiology, Pulmonology and even mental health right in your home and most likely covered by your insurance plan.

Does this mean that I don’t have to leave home for my medical needs?

Correct, you don’t have to leave home to receive high quality care any longer, but if you did want to leave home we would love to see you at our new Medilink Clinic at 685 Malcolm X Blvd on or after our grand opening on Feb 6, 2025

What about labs? 

Can that be done without me leaving home? Yes, most of our Care Facilitators are also Phlebotomists, which means they can draw blood right in your home and bring it back to our clinic so we can analyze it in our extensive on-site point of care laboratory. If necessary, we can also send your blood samples to Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp for more extensive testing. Through Medpod’s partnership with Staywell 360 we will also be the first to offer the new breakthrough Cancer Check Labs multi cancer screening test when it becomes available in New York, and if you happen to be a firefighter the test will likely be free.

What about my co-pay? 

Your co-pay will be exactly the same as you pay at your primary care doctor regardless of where you receive care, at our Harlem Clinic or in the comfort of your home.

Does this type of care help to keep me from going to the emergency room? 

Absolutely! Medpod published a case study in which the were able to reduce the need to go to the hospital for 86% of patient. Of course, if you are experiencing an emergency call 911 immediately but if the hospital emergency room has become the equivalent of your primary care doctors office then please come in or give us a call.

Are you saying that I can receive a major portion of my quality medical needs by using Medilink, Powered by Medpod and very rarely have to leave home? 

Yes!

What about my prescription? 

Yes, our doctors do write prescriptions when necessary and send it electronically to your pharmacy of choice so you can pick it up or have it delivered at your convenience. 

Is this a Telehealth visit? And will I be able to see the doctor on the screen during my examination? Kind of, it similar to a Telehealth visit in that it uses technology to bring the remote doctor up on the screen, however it’s closer to a face to face visit in that you are examined with the help of a care team member which we call a Care Facilitator using best in class medical devices that previously were bolted to the walls in your doctor’s office or at the hospital. Medpod tore down the walls and freed the medical devices so that high quality care can be delivered to you literally anywhere.
